Brett articles revolve
around the importance and the roles of hero in the society. To illustrate the
importance and roles of heroes in the society, Brett focuses on the quality of
heroes being based on someone who the society can respect or owe their success
to. Brett cautions that the role and importance of heroes in the society should
not extend to worship of heroes. However, Brett traces the importance and roles
of heroes to the ancient times and the impact the heroes played in changing
their society. More so, Brett argues that heroes have an important role in
families and communities of helping people “to take a stand on issues, help out
a neighbor, and be kind, loving and generous to other people” (Brett, web).
Brett does not encourage hero worship as he does not find it important, but
rather find heroic acts as a source of strength, get direction for people’s
lives and inspiration to the people. The qualities of a hero are thus summarized
by Brett as being courageous, face challenges head on, generosity, and kind,
compassionate, generous, risk-taking, and ready to sacrifice their resources
for the larger good of the society.
Based on the heroes qualities defined by
Brett and the disqualification of hero worship, I support his concepts. I agree
that the society needs someone to set standards and act as an example of
respectful life in the society. I support Brett ideas because heroes have
helped change bad history to good history without necessarily asking for
recognition or payment. More so, in my life, I have been inspired to make
several achievements based on the reflection of some past heroes.

Ahmad, like all your blogs I learn a lot and good job you always present the material in such a way that it points out a whole new way of looking at the assignment and what we are supposed to blog about and by doing so I am forced to see the side I didn't while doing my blog. This blog you mention how Dr. Farley does not support hero worshipping and sees it as pointless in a way and when I read the article I looked past it. You did a great job of recognizing the importance of that and mentioning it in your blog. Good job
ReplyDeleteAhmad, I really enjoyed this blog! You really expressed yourself very well and I think you explained your ideas very well. I did not get a chance to do this blog because I was traveling for basketball, but from what I read in your blog I think that I would agree with Dr. Farley. From what it seems like Dr. Farley has said that heroes are supposed to be examples and leaders to other people in order to make the world a better place. You pointed out something interesting when you said that Farley states that he does not support hero worshipping because he sees it as pointless. I could see why it's pointless because why spend time worshiping someone when doing good is what everyone should be doing anyway. Overall good work on this blog I really enjoyed it

ReplyDeleteAhmad, you did a very good job on this blog I believe. I think you did an awesome job getting your thoughts and ideas through to your audience as well as explaining them making sure they're clean and organized as well. You and I sort of focused our blog on the same idea or Dr. Farley's and how he does not agree with hero worshipping so reading your blog helped me realize the mistakes I had made in mine. You did an awesome job explaining the article and also why you agreed with it. Your thoughts are clear and precise and give good examples and evidence to back them up. You are a very good writer and always do such a great job on all of your blogs. Great job Ahmad, and keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteAhmad, your summary of the article works well, though please be sure to check on who is talking as it is Dr. Farley, not Brett McKay who says the things you comment on. Your own opinion is well crafted, though a little short. I would like to have heard more about why you agree with Dr. Farley about hero worship.
